Basement Flood From Toilet Pipe

This basement damage was the caused when a pipe from a toilet on the floor above broke while the family was away for the night.  About 2 feet of water poured through the floor into the basement overnight.  The family not expecting it came home to the disaster the next day.  SERVPRO of Society Hill was called out to survey the damage and get right to work. First the 2 feet of water had to be removed.  When that was completed, the parts of the walls that the water had soaked into were removed. You can see in the before picture how high the water rose to.  Finally all that had to be done once the walls were repaired was dry the whole basement out.  With the amount of water that the area took, it was a 3 day drying period.  The family was thrilled with the work that was done, and just happy to have the basement back to normal. It's always a good idea when leaving your home for a longer period of time, to turn of the water.  This is just to be cautious in case something like this does occur.
